One of our most favorite books is The Very Hungry! It's an excellent to learn how to count, and it is also an excellent book to learn sign language!
I did a 5 day mini lesson on counting with Harry. Each day we read and reviewed the old pages and a different page in the book the corresponded to the day. (ex.: Monday- 1) We then painted on paper what page we learned and practiced counting. I helped Harry paint the correct amount of fruit the caterpillar ate each day.
**Note: A young toddler's art project is NOT going to be spotless or perfect. It will be messy, but that is ok! It's makes it more unique. It's all about learning.**
Harry's book cover
Monday:
We read up what the caterpillar ate on Monday. I held Harry's hand and helped him paint an apple.
Tuesday:
We read up until what the caterpillar ate on Tuesday, and I held Harry's hand to paint. We reviewed Tuesday's page after.
Wednesday:
Again, we read up until what the caterpillar ate on Wednesday and painted the amount on paper. We reviewed Wednesday's again afterwards.
Thursday:
Again, we read up until what the caterpillar ate on Thursday and painted it on paper. We reviewed Thursday's page after we were done.
Friday:
We read the entire book today! Afterwards, I helped Harry paint Friday's page on his paper. We reviewed Friday's page after and reread the book.
