The Shape of Me and Other Things

Well folks... March is reading month!! Harry and I love to read to begin with, so I figured that this would be a great opportunity to introduce some new books. We are dedicating two weeks to two new books and lessons and arts projects about them..

We have never read The Shape of Me and Other Things book, so I thought that this would be a great book to read for the week. It also proved to be a great lesson on shapes.

Day 1- (Monday)
We read the book three different times!


Day 2- (Tuesday)
We read the book, and then we played with the shapes puzzle and shape sorter.



Day 3- (Wednesday)
We read the book again, and then we did a lesson on matching shapes! I helped a little, but Harry did well overall!!



Day 4- (Thursday)
We read the book, and we also painted with shapes.



Day 5- (Friday)
To end our week of shapes, we did three activities today! First, we read the book in the morning, and then I reviewed the basic shapes. Next, we made a truck out of shapes. This was perfect because Harry loves cars and trucks!! I helped a little, but Harry did well overall.




Shape sorting was our final activity. We separated the shapes into containers by category. (We'll get to colors another day!)



There you have it!!! This was a week devoted to a new book while incorporating lessons and activities on shapes!
